Thanks to funding and support from a variety of sources, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe Charitable Organization (PYTCO) has hired Anselmo Frias as Food Pantry Coordinator. Mr. Frias joined the PYTCO team in 2020 as a contractor. He worked with the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s Social Services department for over a year and learned the job duties and responsibilities of the position through on-the-job training. In 2020, the Food Pantry distributed over 93,000 pounds of food to families in need.
Anselmo Frias is an enrolled member of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and provides support and coordination for the Tu’i Bwa’ame (Good Food) Pantry on the Pascua Yaqui Reservation. He also provides critical support for our partner, Iskashitaa’a Refugee Women’s Network, through a collaborative grant agreement through the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Recognizing that food insecurity and poverty are problems that are of particular concern for both refugee women and also vulnerable Pascua Yaqui families, we have combined forces to share in a food distribution program with Iskashitaa’a.
With critical support from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, as well as the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, Bank of America Charitable Foundation, and the Morehouse School of Medicine, we are pleased to be able to create this full-time position. @BankofAmerica @FoodBankTucson @Iskashitaa @MSMEDU @PYTribe @YaquiCharity
